An Evening With Clare Williams

Key Note Speaker on ‘Pupil Voice’

7.30pm - 8.15pm

Monday 27th July 2009

Recognising the Importance of Pupil Participation in the Learning Context.
Are our pupils’ voices really heard? Do we know how they feel about their learning;
are they active in the learning process? How do we really empower pupils to fully
participate within the school community?

Clare began her teaching career in the East London Borough of Newham.
After four years teaching KS2 pupils she became an advisory teacher in a Teachers Centre in Tanzania, East Africa, where she set up a training cycle of workshops and outreach work in the local schools.

On returning to Newham she became an Advisory Teacher with the Borough’s Behaviour Support and Advisory Team. In 2004 she qualified as an Educational Psychotherapist, and completed her MA in Therapeutic Education in 2007.

Clare is currently working throughout the UK. She is the Consultant for the Primary Strategy Team in Dorset coordinating Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) throughout the county. In this role, Clare is also facilitator at National Conferences in London, Birmingham, Blackpool and Dorset. Clare is also providing courses at the Institute of Education, London.
